Regular Season Round 14: Beijing D. - Guangzhou LL 122-116
Date: December 10, 2017
There was no surprise when 10th ranked Long-Lions (7-7) were defeated on the road by eighth ranked Beijing Ducks (9-5) 122-116. Beijing Ducks shot 62.7 percent from the field. Strangely Long-Lions outrebounded Beijing Ducks 46-27 including a 25-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. Beijing Ducks players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Long-Lions' players. 28 personal fouls committed by Long-Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Aaron Jackson (190-86, college: Duquesne) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and Croatian-American center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU) supported him with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Beijing Ducks players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 38 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds by American forward Tyler Hansbrough (206-85, college: N.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Long-Lions. His fellow American import guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) added 21 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Beijing Ducks moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Xinjiang FT and Shenzhen L. Long-Lions at the other side keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Beijing Ducks' next round opponent will be higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#6) in Dongguan and it may be quite challenging game. Long-Lions will play at home against Sturgeons (#14) and hope to win that game.
