Regular Season Round 16: Toyota A. - JX-Eneos S. 54-80

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Nagoya. First ranked JX-Eneos S. faced their biggest opponent Toyota A.. Guests from Kashiwa (15-1) smashed host Toyota A. (13-3) 80-54. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Toyota A.. The game was mostly controlled by JX-Eneos S.. Toyota A. managed to win second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX-Eneos S. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota A.'s 36. They outrebounded Toyota A. 54-29 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. JX-Eneos S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Toyota A.'s players. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners. International forward Yuki Miyazawa (181-93, college: Queens, NY) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) produced 10 points and 6 rebounds and forward Mayi Na (181-93) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-1 record. Toyota A. at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Denso Iris. JX-Eneos S. are looking forward to face league's second-placed Denso Iris in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyota A. will play at home against Chanson V-M and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
