Regular Season Round 9: United - Kings 95-69

Date: December 11, 2017
Rather expected game in Melbourne where 8th ranked Kings (3-12) were crushed by fifth ranked United (7-6) 95-69 on Monday. United dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Kings' 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: Connecticut) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Brad Newley (199-85, agency: BeoBasket) with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Perry Ellis (203-93, college: Kansas) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. United moved-up to third place, which they share with 36ers. Kings lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. United will face Illawarra Hawks (#6) in Gwynneville in the next round. Kings will play at home against Cairns Taipans and hope to win that game.
