Not a big story in a game in Gdynia where 10th ranked Asseco (6-6) was edged by eighth ranked PGE Turow (8-5) 79-78 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 27-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Asseco was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Serbian forward Stefan Balmazovic (199-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). American guard Cameron Ayers (196-91, college: Bucknell) helped adding 18 points. PGE Turow's coach Michael Claxton used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international guard Marcel Ponitka (195-97) responded with 19 points and 4 assists and swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-95) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for PGE Turow. They moved-up to sixth place. Asseco lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. PGE Turow will face Rosa (#11) in Radom in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Asseco will play on the road against the league's leader MKS Dabrowa Gornicza and hope to win that game.
