Rather expected game in Sorocabana where 12th ranked Liga Sorocaba (2-7) was defeated by ninth ranked Vivo/Franca (4-3) 87-79. Strangely Liga Sorocaba outrebounded Vivo/Franca 35-22 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. 35 personal fouls committed by Liga Sorocaba helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international Luis-Felipe Gruber (206-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. International point guard Henrique Coelho (183-93) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. American guard Anton Cook (188-95, college: SE Oklahoma) replied with 30 points and center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) added 13 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Liga Sorocaba. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vivo/Franca moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Paulistano. Liga Sorocaba lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with seven games lost. Vivo/Franca will have a break next round. Liga Sorocaba will play at home against Paulistano (#6) and hope to win that game.
