Regular Season Round 11: Valur - Haukar 86-101

The game with biggest result difference took place in Reykjavik. Local Valur (4-7) lost to second ranked Haukar (8-3) 101-86. Haukar outrebounded Valur 55-34 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 14 blocks. It was a quality performance for the former international center Finnur Magnusson (206-85, college: Catawba) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Kari Jonsson (190-97, college: Drexel) accounted for 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. Haukar's coach Ivar Asgrimsson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Haukar have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Valur dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Haukar's next round opponent will be Thor AK (#11) in Akureyri and are hoping to win another game. Valur will play at home against Keflavik and hope to win that game.
