Regular Season Round 6: Universitarios - Correcaminos 69-85

The most interesting game of round 6 in the LPB was a home defeat of 5th ranked Halcones (2-4) by fourth ranked Correcaminos (3-3) who outscored them by 16 points 85-69. Correcaminos dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Halcones' 24. They outrebounded Halcones 48-26 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Nicaraguan center Bartel Lopez (212-89, agency: Paris Global Sports) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American point guard Trevor Gaskins (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Correcaminos' coach Casimiro Laguna used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Dominican guard Ramon Ruiz (188-83) with 22 points and 5 assists and the former international swingman Gary Forbes (201-85, college: Virginia) scored 16 points and 4 steals. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Halcones at the other side dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. They share it with Atletico Nacional and Toros. Correcaminos are looking forward to face league's leader Caballos in Aguadulce in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Halcones' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Aguilas.
