No shocking result in a game in Akureyri where eighth ranked Grindavik (6-5) defeated 11th ranked Thor AK (2-9) 83-79. Grindavik forced 22 Thor AK turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Dagur Jonsson (185-95, college: St.Francis, NY) accounted for 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Forward Palmi Jonsson (196-93) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Bjarni Larusson (195-90) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for Thor AK in the defeat. Four Thor AK players scored in double figures. Grindavik moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Keflavik. Thor AK lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with nine games lost. Grindavik's next round opponent will be Thor Thorl (#9) in Thorlakshofn. Thor AK will play at home against the league's second-placed Haukar and hope to win that game.
