Regular Season Round 14: Palencia - Valladolid 76-73

A very interesting game took place in Palencia. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Blancos de Rueda (8-6) to tenth ranked Palencia Baloncesto (7-7) 76-73 on Friday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Blancos de Rueda won fourth quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Sergi Pino (197-87, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 11 points and 6 assists. Five Palencia Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds by center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) did not help to save the game for Blancos de Rueda. American guard Henri Wade-Chatman (188-92, college: Edinboro) added 13 points for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Palencia Baloncesto have a solid three-game winning streak. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Forca Lleida and Castello. Newly promoted Blancos de Rueda dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Palencia Baloncesto's next round opponent will be league's second-placed CB Prat on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
