Regular Season Round 9: Quimper - Nancy 75-87

Very expected game when 17th ranked Quimper UJAP (2-7) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Sluc Nancy (6-3) 87-75 on Friday. Quimper UJAP was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 30-15 charge of Sluc Nancy, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Quimper UJAP's 30. They outrebounded Quimper UJAP 33-22 including 20 on the defensive glass. Sluc Nancy looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American guard Dewayne Russell (180-94, college: Grand Canyon) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 assists for the winners and U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-90, college: Murray St.) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Mathieu Tensorer (198-83) with 14 points and American-Cape Verdean point guard Jeffrey Xavier (189-85, college: Providence) scored 9 points and 4 assists. Quimper UJAP's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sluc Nancy maintains fourth place with 6-3 record, which they share with Blois and Saint-Chamond. Quimper UJAP lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the sixteenth position with seven games lost. Sluc Nancy will face Nantes (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quimper UJAP will play against Saint Chamond (#6) and hope to win that game.
