Very predictable result when fifth ranked Saint Chamond (6-3) defeated on the road 11th ranked Nantes (3-6) 69-59 on Friday. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 40-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Matthieu Guichard (188-88) stepped up and scored 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American power forward Ron Anderson (205-89, college: S.Florida, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Saint Chamond players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized Serbian power forward Alexandre Gavrilovic (208-91, college: Towson, agency: Duran International) with 16 points and American Christopher McKnight (201-87, college: Akron, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Saint Chamond. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Nancy and Blois. Loser Nantes keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Saint Chamond will face Quimper UJAP (#17) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Nantes will play against Sluc Nancy (#4) and hope to win that game.
