Regular Season Round 13: Le Portel - Strasbourg 75-80

Date: December 15, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Le Portel (5-8) lost at home to fourth ranked SIG Strasbourg (8-5) 80-75 on Friday. Le Portel was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-12 charge of SIG Strasbourg, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for international power forward Louis Labeyrie (208-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. American-Bosnian guard Zack Wright (188-85, college: Central Mo.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American guard Trae Golden (189-91, college: Georgia Tech) answered with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Franklin Hassell (205-88, college: ODU) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Le Portel. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. SIG Strasbourg moved-up to third place, which they share with Le Mans and Nanterre. Le Portel lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. SIG Strasbourg will face JL Bourg (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Le Portel will play against the league's leader Monaco (#1) and hope to win that game.
