Regular Season Round 10: Valga - Rapla 77-67

Date: December 16, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Valga. Second ranked host Valga (8-3) defeated one of their biggest challengers Rapla (6-5) 77-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rapla. The game was mostly controlled by Valga. Rapla was better in second period 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Power forward Roberts Freimanis (204-91, college: BS Liepaja) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Rain Raadik (208-89) supported him with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Four Valga players scored in double figures. Valga's coach Kristaps Zeids allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Nolan Cressler (195-94, college: Vanderbilt, agency: 3Eye) did not help to save the game for Rapla. His fellow American import forward Devonte Upson (206-93, college: SE Louisiana) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Valga maintains second position with 8-3 record behind leader Kalev/Cramo. Rapla at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Valga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rapla will play at home against the league's leader Kalev/Cramo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
