Regular Season Round 18: Kouvot - Kauhajoki 83-89

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kouvola. Second-best host Kouvot (11-6) lost to third ranked Kauhajoki (12-6) 89-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kouvot. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Kouvot won third quarter 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88) notched 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) supported him with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds by the former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for Kouvot. American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) added 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kauhajoki and five Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kauhajoki have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Kouvot at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Kauhajoki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kouvot will play on the road against Espoo United and hopes to get back on the winning track.
