Regular Season Round 9: Olympiacos - Athinaikos 101-42

Undefeated leader Olympiacos delivered the ninth consecutive victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Athinaikos (5-4) 101-42 in Pireus. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Athinaikos. The game without a history. Olympiacos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Athinaikos to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Athinaikos' 36. Olympiacos forced 23 Athinaikos turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Athinaikos' players. It was a good game for American power forward Victoria Macaulay (193-90, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with 20 points. Croatian forward Mirna Mazic (188-85, college: Richmond, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Olympiacos players scored in double figures. American forward Jamee Swan (188-94, college: Colorado, agency: LBM Management) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Hannah Little (185-94, college: Oakland) added 5 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Athinaikos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Athinaikos at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Olympiacos will play against Proteas (#9) in Voula in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Athinaikos will play at home against Olympiacos Volou (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
