Regular Season Round 17: Ryukyu GK - Nishinomiya S. 84-68

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Nishinomiya S. (5-18) lost to first ranked Ryukyu GK (18-5) in Okinawa 68-84 on Saturday. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 47-26 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Nishinomiya S.'s players. American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. International guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) answered with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and point guard Noriaki Douhara (178-89) added 7 points in the effort for Nishinomiya S.Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Ryukyu GK have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 18-5 record. Newly promoted Nishinomiya S. keeps the fifth position with 18 games lost. Ryukyu GK will face league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nishinomiya S. will play against Shimane Magic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
