Regular Season Round 14: Njardvik - Keflavik 73-80
Date: December 16, 2017
Bottom-ranked Njardvik (0-14) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 14th consecutive match to fourth ranked Keflavik (9-5) 80-73. Keflavik players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 12 blocks. American guard Brittanny Dinkins (170-94, college: S.Mississippi) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and international forward Thelma Agustsdottir (179-98) supported her with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Keflavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 25 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by American Shalonda Winton (180-91, college: Cleveland St.) did not help to save the game for Njardvik. Center Maria Jonsdottir (185-93) added 13 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Haukar. Njardvik at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Keflavik will play against Snaefell (#7) in Stykkisholmur in the next round where they are favorite. Njardvik will play at home against Skallagrimur and hopes to get finally their first victory.
