Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kanazawa Sam. (12-10) against fourth ranked Yamagata (9-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Kanazawa Sam. was defeated by Yamagata in Yamagata 83-69. They made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Yamagata outrebounded Kanazawa Sam. 37-21 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) answered with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Ide Yuji (181-88) added 11 points and 7 assists in the effort for Kanazawa Sam.Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yamagata maintains fourth place with 9-13 record. Newly promoted Kanazawa Sam. keeps the second position with ten games lost. They share it with Hiroshima D.. Yamagata will again play against league's second-placed Kanazawa Sam. in Ishikawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kanazawa Sam. will have a break next round.
