Regular Season Round 12: Magec Tias - Alcobendas 79-80

Important game to mention about took place in Las Palmas. Sixth ranked Alcobendas (8-4) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Magec Tias (5-7) 80-79 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-16. But Magec Tias won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American-U.S. Virgin Islands guard Imani Tate (173-95, college: Albany) who saved her team from a defeat with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Lucia Togores (176-96, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 7 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Alcobendas' coach Alex Pajares allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Tamara Montero (168-94) added 23 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Magec Tias. Alcobendas maintains sixth position in Group B with 8-4 record. Newly promoted Magec Tias keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Alcobendas will play against Almeria (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Magec Tias will play against Olimpico 64 (#11) in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
