Regular Season Round 11: Tokyo Big Blue - Tokyo Excel. 60-96

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Tokyo Excel. (7-3) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (0-10) 96-60 on Saturday. Tokyo Excel. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 34. Tokyo Excel. forced 20 Tokyo Big Blue turnovers and outrebounded them 44-21 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tokyo Excel. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 19 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) helped adding 19 points. Four Tokyo Excel. players scored in double figures. Point guard Yoshikawa Osamuakira (182-92) responded with 11 points and 6 assists and point guard Takayama Ryunosuke (171-93) scored 11 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Tokyo Excel.. They moved-up to fourth place. Tokyo Big Blue lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. Tokyo Excel. will face Toyoda Gosei (#5) in Aichi in the next round. Tokyo Big Blue will play on the road against Kagoshima (#7) in Renova and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
