Regular Season Round 19: GOCOR-Sozh - Vitebsk 59-101

The game in Gomel supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Vitebsk (10-8) played at the court of 8th ranked GOCOR-Sozh (5-13). Vitebsk smashed GOCOR-Sozh 101-59 on Saturday. The game without a history. Vitebsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 40. They outrebounded GOCOR-Sozh 44-22 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vitebsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by GOCOR-Sozh's players. Forward Ruslan Pishcheyko (190-98) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) chipped in 19 points and 4 steals. Four Vitebsk players scored in double figures. Power forward Aleksandr Kopacev (203-95) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Alexei Kovalev (-0) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vitebsk have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 10-8 record, which they share with Impuls BGUIR. GOCOR-Sozh lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Vitebsk will meet at home Tsmoki II (#6) in the next round. GOCOR-Sozh will play against RCOP Tsmoki in Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
