Rather predictable result when second ranked Basket Esch (9-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Sparta (5-7) 79-71 on Saturday. American power forward Clancy Rugg (203-91, college: Vermont, agency: Court Side) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Haitian-American guard Eniel Polynice (196-88, college: Seton Hall) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Basket Esch players scored in double figures. American forward Brad Reese (200-88, college: Texas Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Titus Robinson (201-90, college: Buffalo) added 10 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Basket Esch maintains second place with 9-3 record behind leader Amicale. Loser Sparta keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Residence. Basket Esch will meet Racing (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sparta will play against Heffingen and hope to secure a win.
