Regular Season Round 17: Chiba Jets - Toshiba BT 79-57

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Toshiba Thunders (13-10) were smashed on the road by second ranked Chiba Jets (16-7) 79-57 on Saturday. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Toshiba Thunders' 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Toshiba Thunders were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) added 5 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Toshiba Thunders. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chiba Jets maintains second place with 16-7 record having just three points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Hitachi SR. Loser Toshiba Thunders dropped to the second position with ten games lost. Chiba Jets will face Hokkaido L. (#5) in Saporro in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play at home against the league's leader Toyota Alvark and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
