Regular Season Round 12: RC Celta - Segle XXI 64-61

Thirteenth-ranked Segle XXI (2-11) made lots of trouble for first ranked Real Celta Vigo (11-1) on Saturday. Real Celta Vigo managed to secure only three-point victory 64-61. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Segle XXI. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-61. The best player for the winners was center Raquel Carrera (188-1) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Itziar German (184-86, agency: ProDep Management) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Helena Pueyo (182-1) who recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Carolina Mateo added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Segle XXI's coach Ivan Torinos tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Real Celta Vigo maintains first position in Group A with 11-1 record. Segle XXI at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 11 games lost. Real Celta Vigo are looking forward to face Oviedo (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Segle XXI will have a break next round.
