Regular Season Round 13: JAS FBG - Widzew 74-81

Widzew can celebrate finally their first win this season after 11 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Sosnowiec, where they defeated JAS FBG (3-9) 81-74. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But JAS FBG won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded JAS FBG 42-23 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Widzew shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Kathleen Scheer (187-89, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Julia Drop (175-95) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Widzew players scored in double figures. American point guard Ketia Swanier (170-86, college: Connecticut) answered with 20 points and 8 assists and Lithuanian power forward Egle Siksniute (198-91) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for JAS FBG. Widzew maintains thirteenth place with 1-11 record. JAS FBG at the other side dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with TS Ostrovia. Widzew will play against league's second-placed Artego Bydg. in Bydgoszcz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JAS FBG will play at home against Energa Torun (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
