There was no surprise when 6th ranked Dandenong Rangers (7-11) were defeated on the road by third ranked Townsville Fire (11-6) 83-71 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was the former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-80) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Cayla George (192-89) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Carley Mijovic (196-94) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Stephanie Cumming-Blicavs (178-90) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Townsville Fire moved-up to second place. Dandenong Rangers lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Townsville Fire will face bottom-ranked Bendigo Spirit (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dandenong Rangers will play against Canberra Capitals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
