Regular Season Round 10: Kastoria - Karditsas 67-66

Thirteenth-ranked Karditsas (2-8) was very close to win a game against ninth ranked Kastoria (6-4) on Saturday. Kastoria managed to secure only one-point victory 67-66. However their fans expected much easier game. Karditsas was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 18-15 charge of Kastoria, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Karditsas was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Nikos Kaklamanos (189-81) who helped to win the game recording 23 points. Forward Giorgos Brozos (198-86, college: Furman) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Kastoria's coach Giorgos Soulios used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Serafeim Theos (204-84) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and point guard Thomas Amparas (190-94) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Karditsas. Kastoria moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Karditsas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Kastoria will face Papagou (#12) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Karditsas will play at home against Amyntas Dafnis and hope to win that game.
