Regular Season Round 10: Hapoel T-A - Ironi Nes-Ziona 86-81
Date: December 17, 2017
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona's (3-7) road loss to eighth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (5-5) 81-86. The game without a history. Hapoel Tel-Aviv led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Hapoel Tel-Aviv especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. American guard Jerel McNeal (190-87, college: Marquette) notched 21 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) supported him with 17 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds by Nigerian power forward Talib Zanna (206-90, college: Pittsburgh, agency: 3Eye) did not help to save the game for Ironi Nes-Ziona. American swingman Daequan Cook (196-87, college: Ohio St.) added 19 points for lost side. Ironi Nes-Ziona's coach Nadav Zilberstein rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Maccabi Rishon and Ironi Nahariya. Newly promoted Ironi Nes-Ziona dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Maccabi Ashdod. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tel-Aviv to the arena Maccabi T-A.
