There was a surprise result in Changchun where seventeenth ranked Jilin Tigers (4-13) defeated higher ranked Long-Lions (9-8) 139-132 on Sunday. Jilin Tigers made 32-of-37 free shots (86.5 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Jilin Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Long-Lions were plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Carl Landry (206-83, college: Purdue) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) produced 27 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) added 31 points and 4 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Jilin Tigers maintains seventeenth place with 4-13 record. Loser Long-Lions keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Jilin Tigers will face higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#5) in Dongguan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
