Regular Season Round 14: Gnupverjar - FSU 99-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Gnupverjar's (4-8) home victory over 8th ranked FSU (1-12) in Reykjavik 99-87 on Sunday. They outrebounded FSU 41-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gnupverjar looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) notched 43 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and forward Atli Gunnarsson (197-85) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Even 22 points and 7 assists by point guard Hlynur Hreinsson (174-92) did not help to save the game for FSU. Florijan Jovanov (197-91) added 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Four FSU players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Gnupverjar maintains seventh position with 4-8 record. FSU lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost. Gnupverjar will meet league's leader Skallagrimur in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. FSU will play against Fjolnir (#6) in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
