Regular Season Round 13: Albacete - La Roda 71-81

The most shocking disappointment of round 13 in the LEB Silver was a home defeat of 4th placed Albacete (8-5) to fifth ranked La Roda (9-4) 81-71. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 48-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. La Roda made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Albacete turnovers. Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) chipped in 21 points. At the losing side American center Babatunde Olumuyiwa (203-92, college: USC Upstate) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois, agency: Two Points) scored 20 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. La Roda have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with L'Hospitalet and Lucentum. Albacete at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Moron. La Roda is looking forward to face Real Canoe (#12) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Albacete will play on the road against Myrtia (#7) in Murcia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
