Regular Season Round 7: Al Wakrah - Al Gharafa 95-86

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Al Gharafa (5-1) on the court of fifth ranked Al Wakrah on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Al Wakrah 95-86. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Al Gharafa. Al Wakrah shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. It was a great evening for American point guard Marcus Johnson-Jr (180-95, college: UALR) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) helped adding 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side international forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and American point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Al Gharafa players scored in double figures. Al Wakrah (4-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al Sadd. Al Gharafa at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Qatar Club and Al Arabi. Al Wakrah is looking forward to face Al Ahli (#8) in Doha in the next round. Al Gharafa's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Rayyan.
