Very important is a home loss of second ranked Chiba Jets (16-7) against fifth ranked Toshiba Thunders (13-10) on Sunday night. Host Chiba Jets were defeated by Toshiba Thunders in a tough game in Chiba 70-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chiba Jets. They outrebounded Chiba Jets 43-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) nailed a double-double by scoring 31 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) accounted for 11 points and 8 assists. Toshiba Thunders' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively for Chiba Jets in the defeat. Toshiba Thunders moved-up to second place, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Loser Chiba Jets keep the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Hitachi SR. Toshiba Thunders will meet at home league's leader Toyota Alvark in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chiba Jets will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and hope to secure a win.
