Regular Season Round 17: Osaka Evessa - Hitachi SR 58-92

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Osaka Evessa's (6-17) home loss to third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (16-7) 58-92 on Sunday. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Osaka Evessa's 32. They outrebounded Osaka Evessa 46-23 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hitachi Sunrockers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. International point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points. American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Forward Shinnosuke Negoro (195-87) answered with 15 points and guard Soichiro Fujitaka (190-91) added 15 points in the effort for Osaka Evessa. Osaka Evessa's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Hitachi Sunrockers moved-up to second place, which they share with Chiba Jets. Osaka Evessa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 17 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Tochigi Brex (#6) on the road in the next round. Osaka Evessa will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
