Regular Season Round 11: Melbourne - Perth 89-92

The most exciting game of round 11 in the WNBL took place in Melbourne. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Boomers (11-7) to first ranked Perth Lynx (14-4) 92-89 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Boomers. Perth Lynx forced 22 Boomers turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) who scored 28 points and 7 assists. Her fellow American import guard Courtney Williams (173-94, college: S.Florida) chipped in 26 points and 6 steals. The former international center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) produced a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and the former international Jenna OHea (185-87) added 14 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. Perth Lynx have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-4 record. Boomers at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Sydney. Perth Lynx will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Boomers will play again on the road against the league's leader Perth Lynx and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
