Regular Season Round 18: Victoria - Gorizont 57-85

The game in Grodno supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Gorizont (9-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Victoria (3-11). Gorizont smashed Victoria 85-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gorizont. Victoria managed to win second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Victoria to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Victoria 52-31 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Russian center Anna Nuzhnaya (194-92) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. International center Hanna Brych (187-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. Gorizont's coach Nataliya Trafimava felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) who recorded 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and center Anastasiya Serchenya (182-0) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Gorizont have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-5 record having nine points less than leader Olimpia. Victoria lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Gorizont will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Victoria will play against the league's second-placed Tsmoki-Minsk (#2) and hope to secure a win.
