Date: December 17, 2017
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Pireus. Third ranked Olympiacos faced second-best Lavrio. Host Olympiacos (7-2) smashed guests from Lavrio (6-3) 91-62. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lavrio. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. Lavrio managed to win second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lavrio to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Lavrio 40-20 including 27 on the defensive glass. Olympiacos shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Lavrio's players. The best player for the winners was the former international Georgios Printezis (204-85, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. International forward Ioannis Papapetrou (203-94, college: Texas) chipped in 14 points. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Tony Meier (204-90, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) who recorded 21 points and the other American import Antwaine Wiggins (200-88, college: Charleston) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos moved-up to second place. Lavrio at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with PAOK and Promitheas. Olympiacos are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Panionios (#14) in Athens in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Lavrio will play at home against PAOK (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
