Regular Season Round 15: Al-Muharraq - Al-Riffa 83-79

Rather predictable result in Al Muharraq where third ranked Al-Muharraq (10-3) beat 5th ranked Al-Riffa (8-5) 83-79. Al-Muharraq made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game, while Al-Riffa only scored three points from the stripe. Al-Riffa was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American center Jordan Richard (206-89, college: CS Los Angeles, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. Ahmed Aldurazi contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Al-Muharraq's coach Ivan Jeremic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) answered with 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Mohamed Nabeel added 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Al-Riffa. Al-Muharraq maintains third place with 10-3 record having just three points less than leader Al-Ahli. Newly promoted Al-Riffa dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Al-Muharraq will play against Al-Bahrain (#10) in Manama in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al-Riffa will play on the road against Al-Ittihad in Manama and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
