Tenth-ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (1-10) gave a tough game to third ranked Maccabi Raanana (7-4) on Monday. Maccabi Raanana managed to secure only three-point victory 66-63. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for American forward Ariel Edwards (190-92, college: Penn St., agency: ProDep Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Her fellow American import guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky) helped adding 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Nigerian-American forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA) responded with 23 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Adi-Rachel Lux (175-88, agency: Blue and White) scored 20 points. Maccabi Raanana maintains third place with 7-4 record behind leader Elitzur Holon, which they share with Maccabi R.Hen. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Maccabi Raanana will face Bnot Hertzeliya (#7) on the road in the next round. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Maccabi Ramat Gan and hope to win that game.
