Regular Season Round 10: Bnei Hertzeliya - Maccabi Rishon 80-93

Date: December 18, 2017
12th ranked Bnei Hasharon (2-8) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Maccabi Rishon (5-5) with the biggest margin this round 93-80. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Rishon. Bnei Hasharon was better in fourth quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Rishon forced 19 Bnei Hasharon turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American Mark Tollefsen (206-92, college: Arizona) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and the other American import Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany) supported him with 24 points and 4 assists. Four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 5 assists by Nigerian-American guard Michael Efevberha (193-84, college: CS Northridge) did not help to save the game for Bnei Hasharon. The former international swingman Shawn Dawson (198-93) added 12 points for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi Rishon moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Ironi Nahariya. Bnei Hasharon lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Maccabi Rishon will play against higher ranked Galil Gilboa (#4) in Rosh Pina in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bnei Hasharon will play on the road against Maccabi Ashdod (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
