Not a big story in a game when 19th ranked Blue Whales (2-16) were outscored by ninth ranked Golden Bulls (11-7) in Hangzhou 142-112 on Tuesday. Golden Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 58 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Blue Whales 50-28 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Golden Bulls shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. It was a good game for American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import forward Jarnell Stokes (201-94, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) replied with 43 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Blue Whales. Five Golden Bulls and four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Golden Bulls moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Xinjiang FT. Blue Whales lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 16 games lost. Golden Bulls will face Xinjiang Flying Tige (#8) in Urumqi in the next round. Blue Whales will play at home against Jilin Tigers (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
