Rather expected game in Saporro where 5th ranked Hokkaido L. (12-12) was crushed by second ranked Chiba Jets (17-7) 97-73 on Wednesday. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hokkaido L.'s 36. Chiba Jets forced 19 Hokkaido L. turnovers. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists during the contest. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Ryota Sakurai (194-83) with 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba Jets maintains second position with 17-7 record having just two points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Hitachi SR. Loser Hokkaido L. keeps the fifth place with 12 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Diamond Dolphins (#5) in Nagoya in the next round. Hokkaido L. will play on the road against Yokohama BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
