Regular Season Round 18: Ryukyu GK - Kyoto Hannar. 68-69

A very close game took place in Okinawa between Kyoto Hannar. and Ryukyu GK. Second ranked Kyoto Hannar. (14-10) got a very close victory on the road over top-ranked Ryukyu GK (18-6). Kyoto Hannar. managed to escape with a 1-point win 69-68 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Ito Tatsuya (173-94) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) who recorded 17 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kyoto Hannar. maintains second position with 14-10 record having five points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Toshiba BT. Loser Ryukyu GK still keeps top place with six games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will meet at home league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ryukyu GK will play against Tochigi Brex and hope to secure a win.
