Regular Season Round 18: Shimane SM - Nishinomiya S. 107-84

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Shimane Magic and 5th ranked Nishinomiya S. had identical 5-18 record. This time Shimane Magic used a home court advantage and outscored the opponent from Hyogo 107-84 on Wednesday night. Shimane Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Nishinomiya S.'s 40. They outrebounded Nishinomiya S. 50-22 including a 39-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shimane Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Diamond Sports) chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Five Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 assists and 5 steals and point guard Noriaki Douhara (178-89) scored 27 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shimane Magic (6-18) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Yokohama BC. Nishinomiya S. lost third consecutive game. Nishinomiya S. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the sixth position with 19 games lost. Shimane Magic will face higher ranked Shiga L-Stars (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nishinomiya S. will play against the league's second-placed San-en NeoPhoenix and hope to win that game.
