There was no surprise in Aldeota where 9th ranked SKY/Basquete (3-4) was defeated by seventh ranked Caxias do Sul (5-4) 76-67 on Wednesday. Caxias do Sul forced 23 SKY/Basquete turnovers. The best player for the winners was Alexandre de-Souza (202-92) who scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Caue Freitas (192-88) chipped in 13 points. Four Caxias do Sul players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Bruno Fiorotto (208-84) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Rashaun McLemore (193-86, college: CS Northridge) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively. SKY/Basquete's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Caxias do Sul moved-up to sixth place. Loser SKY/Basquete dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Caxias do Sul will face Universo/Vitoria (#8) in Salvador in the next round. SKY/Basquete will play at home against Joinville and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
