Regular Season Round 11: Arkadikos - Ethnikos 97-92

An interesting game took place in Arkadia where higher ranked Ethnikos (4-7) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked Arkadikos (2-9) 97-92. The hosts were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 42-27 last quarter charge of Ethnikos cut the lead to 97-92 at the end of the game. Arkadikos dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ethnikos' 22. Arkadikos had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Arkadikos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Ethnikos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Center Savvas Tsougarakis (207-86) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Giannis Prodromou (196-87) contributed with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Prodromou is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman Paraskevas Martzos (197-85) answered with 16 points and 4 assists and forward Nikos Tsoutsos (202-82) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Ethnikos. Five Arkadikos and four Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Arkadikos moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Karditsas and AE Larissas. Ethnikos at the other side keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Arkadikos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Doxa Lefkadas (#6) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
