Regular Season Round 12: Maccabi Ashdod - Hap.Petah Tikva 70-66

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (5-7) was defeated on the road by second ranked Maccabi Ashdod (9-3) 70-66 on Thursday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Maccabi Ashdod made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Maccabi Ashdod outrebounded Hap.Petah Tikva 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Tiffany Jackson (191-85, college: Texas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and swingman Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: Connecticut) who added 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Brittney Sykes (175-94, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Shakeya Leary (189-90, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Hap.Petah Tikva players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Elitzur Holon. Loser Hap.Petah Tikva dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Bnot Hertzeliya. Maccabi Ashdod will meet league's leader Elitzur Holon on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hap.Petah Tikva will play against Maccabi Raanana (#3) and hope to secure a win.
