Regular Season Round 11: Poitiers - Saint-Chamond 91-93

A very interesting game took place in Poitiers. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 11th ranked Poitiers (4-7) to fifth ranked Saint Chamond (8-3) 93-91 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Saint Chamond players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Poitiers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ron Anderson (205-89, college: S.Florida, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Jonathan Hoyaux (195-88) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Saint Chamond's coach Alain Thinet allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Dominican guard Anthony Goods (191-87, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 26 points and naturalized Guinean swingman Sekou-Omar Doumbouya (202-0) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Saint Chamond and four Poitiers players scored in double figures. Saint Chamond have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Blois. Poitiers at the other side keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Saint Chamond's next round opponent will be higher ranked Chorale de Roanne (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Poitiers will play against Provence Basket (#7) in Fos-sur-Mer and hope to win that game.
