Regular Season Round 12: MKS DG - Asseco 101-74

Leader MKS Dabrowa Gornicza delivered the eleventh victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked Asseco (6-7) 101-74. It looked good early as Asseco took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then MKS Dabrowa Gornicza had a 30-15 second period charge getting the lead and Asseco was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-101. They outrebounded Asseco 36-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American forward DJ Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. The former international Bartlomiej Woloszyn (196-86) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) replied with 11 points and 4 assists and swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-95) added 12 points in the effort for Asseco. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (11-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position, which they share with Anwil. Asseco at the other side dropped to the twelfth place with seven games lost. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza will play against Start (#8) in Lublin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Asseco will play at home against AZS Koszalin (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
