Regular Season Round 19: Qingdao E. - Shanghai S. 111-118

Rather expected game in Qingdao where 15th ranked Eagles (6-13) were defeated by thirteenth ranked Sharks (9-10) 118-111. They made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Sharks outrebounded Eagles 50-37 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Eagles helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American Nick Minnerath (207-88, college: Detroit Mercy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 18 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). His fellow American import point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) contributed with 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (made all of his sixteen free throws !!!) for the winners. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international center Wei Su (212-89) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Eagles. Five Sharks and four Eagles players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sharks moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Jiangsu TX MK and Beikong FD. Eagles at the other side keep the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Sharks' next round opponent will be higher ranked Long-Lions (#10) in Guangzhou and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eagles will play at home against Gold Lions (#18) and hope to win that game.
